MSM is a often used in Joint supplements, but there are many more uses. The most common we see is MSM in glucosamine and chondroitin. Human uses of MSM range from joint health to migraines. The sulfur compound is also used in animals. MSM is a naturally occurring compound that is found in living tissue. Plants, animals, humans, and some foods like cow’s milk all contain MSM.

As we age our cells die and we start to lose MSM. Human uses of MSM is needed to replenish the MSM we lose. In conjunction with other chemicals in our bodies, MSM helps to rebuild cells. Sulfur is found in all our connective tissues, so when we take MSM it is distributed to these tissues where needed. Our bodies will only uses what it needs and dispose of the rest. This is good because it does not allow the leftover MSM to produce toxic effects in our bodies like some other msm supplements.

Human uses for MSM include joint and muscle pain, by helping to treat inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, and more. Another use is on pollen allergies, scientists are not exactly sure how MSM works to help, but studies did show relief. Other symptoms that can be improved with the uses of MSM in humans are headaches, carpal tunel syndrome, sinusitis, sclerdema, and fibromyalgia.

Human uses of MSM have recently included healthy hair, nails and skin. One of the main ingredients in the collagen in our skin is sulfur. MSM is a sulfur compound so research was done for human uses of MSM to see if our skin, hair and nails were also positively affected. The results were good and were showed by making hair stronger, thicker and shinier, and nails were healthier and stronger too. If you have a sulfur deficiency in your body you will usually suffer with skin, nail, and hair problems, as well as acne, gastrointestinal problems, arthritis and memory loss.

Human uses of MSM are being found every day. MSM is a very important mineral that our bodies need to maintain a healthy body. Starting a supplement with MSM before developing problems can benefit us greatly because our cells and tissues will be stronger and can help to fight off and prevent some illnesses. Long term use of MSM is perfectly fine and does not show any negative effects on humans or animals. Although you can find MSM in food, it is quickly depleted when they are harvested and lost when cooked. That is why there are supplements out there to provide you with this much needed mineral.
